In Decay Hatching LoVid experiments with analog video signals. The video was recorded during a residency at Experimental TV Center using the center’s unique video processors and synthesizers. The piece highlights the fragility of technology as LoVid composes image and sound that are on the edge of signal failure. Working together as LoVid since 2001, Hinkis and Lapidus combine their complementary interests in visual art, technology, music, and science. During the performances live video and sound are created, modified and processed using homemade electronic devices. The raw materials range from live video drawings and video loops, to low video signal and audio interference.
