Livinus was a central figure in Dutch media art. He was one of the founders of the Free Academy in The Hague, also known as Psychopolis, a very open school which became the center of experimental film in The Netherlands. Livinus himself developed light art in many different media: he made a light organ, developed luminous sculptures, and became one of the first Dutch video-artists by creating his own video-synthesizer. The music for this piece was made by his son Jeep.
