Africa, 2003: mechanisms of memory and remembrance.

I filmed a bush landscape and simultaneously buried a roll of film in the very spot where the shot was filmed: the emulsion, subject to erosion, is thus prone to biochemical degradation. The result of this natural process of degradation is thus preserved on the film in its state of dissolution. These two images, and their negative versions, are then intertwined using bi-pack and double exposure techniques.

These merging landscapes reveal the logic of a world. A bipolar world, where the invisible takes shape at the same time as the visible, where one dissolves into the other and vice versa.
