Quarter Draw

2001, USA, 16mm, colour, sound, variable length (30 min.)

A rectangle for n. 4 loops printed and cut from an ink sprayed original for n. 4 modified projectors and rotary gels.
In Quarter Draw gradients of increasing ink density were sprayed onto a length of single perforated clear leader from which a print was struck -- verdict:
"For pertinacious effrontery and florid pretence, the beautied intervals will be gutted, sliced and torn asunder!"
Four pieces of film 5 - 9 - 13 - 17 feet long are to be looped with the splices hiding in the dark. Each loop contributes to a quadriplanar light that will be thrown out onto the screen for public edification. Sound originating from the optical track of each loop is heard over four loudspeaker sources with a parallel performance by Alex Mendizabal.
