360° Immersive Virtual Film

Neapolis, 2163. Due to an epidemy of homicides and suicides caused by new psychic disorders, the authorities introduce an artificial intelligence system called S.I.L.V.A.: the purpose is to monitor and transpose the human biometric data, and to heal the psychic wounds during simulated psychiatric sessions.

VR fanta-scientific film by Sebastiano Deva
creenplay by Jenny Del Prete, Sebastiano Deva
Set design by Walter Picardi
Starring Gioia Spaziani, Marcello Mazzarella
Produced by Innereo and Apptripper

One of the first experimental immersive virtual reality films realized in Italy. A sci-fi narrative was shot with an Ista 360 pro2 eight-focal 8K camera and alternated in the plot with 3D Computer Graphic Image animation clips, simulating the synthetic identity of S.I.L.V.A.: are we controlling or are we being controlled?
A DeepSound Machine Learning system was used during the shooting to generate the biometric data transmitted by the actors during their performance, and later transformed into instantaneous sounds to produce the soundtrack.
The immersive vision guides the viewer into a new position in the filmic event, where the presence is like a witness projected into the future of these instants experienced in first person, and where the ‘suspension of disbelief’ is manifested both in the visual perspective and in the posture of one’s body at 360 degrees. This aesthetic ‘Fifth Dimension’ is made possible by virtual immersive cinema wearing a three-dimensional visor as an extension of sight and taking control of the gaze no longer confined to the two-dimensionality of the screen.
The story of S.I.L.V.A. is a science fiction of human relations and expands some stated prophecies (one for Naples) and authoritative quotations into the viewer’s mental vision, delivering the verification of the events enunciated in the film only in 2163.
