"Yes?/ Oui?/ Ja?" is a film belonging to the "Found Footage" genre, put together using material from my archive. The archive, constantly updated, consists of some 500 films belonging to different categories (school, teachers, lessons, play, documentary and so on).
The film's production began with Ulrich Wiesner, with whom I also made Metropolen des Leichtsinn. Wiesner chose a song which was to be the essence of the film. The original idea was to "draw" the words to the song in a way that would be exaggerated, and go completely over the top with the number of images. "La Poupée" is a song by the French singer Michèle Polnareff which tells of a "chaste love" with an extremely simple lyric and melody. Ulrich chose the English version.
The images contain scenes from films with different actors playing Tarzan (Lex Barker, Buster Crabbe), scenes from Babes in Toyland, an American television series in which people look like toys (La Poupée!), Physics films with abstract animation, some scenes from an Austrian film about pets.
Ulrich Wiesner died during the making of this film, and I had to finish it alone after a long break.
