German Runs uses S-8mm footage that has been enlarged to 16mm. Thus having a very grainy and soft imagery that on one hand reveals the medium and shows that it does not rely on images, even more so it does not rely on the beauty of images but purely on the powerful use of the montage. The images themselves are simple, sometimes often banal as shots of subways, cars and street scenes in bleached out quality, grainy with often very soft focus.
