A young Dutch artist, but one who has already accumulated much experience, Francien Van Everdingen made a move into experimental cinema at the beginning of the 90s after having studied plastic arts. This led her to the Studio Een, a Dutch laboratory dedicated to experimentation (but which now works in other fields), where she got a solid grounding in lab techniques.
Her work essentially consists of installations with film, mostly conceived for specific spaces. For a few years she has also been working with shorts which reflect the meticulous and refined work of her installations. Tapestry, for example, is a film made up of many fragments of frames which slowly take on the appearance of a mosaic, or, precisely, of a tapestry.
